Many years ago, in the late 60's, I worked for several years as an orderly in a local hospital. In those days an orderly's responsibilities were limited to assisting patients with morning baths, changing bed linens, passing bed pans, and, occasionally giving pre-op enemas and shaving. Today I am told they are no longer called "orderlies" - the proper term is "nursing assistant" and their responsibilities include some limited medical procedures! I guess I was just born too early!

In any event, as an orderly, I would hear of various patients having been catheterized, and shuddered at the thought of having this done to myself. It struck me as an invasion of private bodily functions (although medically necessary). and to let the truth be known, I was scared shitless of the thought of having someone, even a doctor, shove a rubber tube up my cock!

In various talks that I have given to S-M organizations, I use the phrase, "never say never!" As a child I hated doctors, injections, and needles - today both my nipples are pierced, and I wear an 8-gauge Prince Albert! I have always been leery of electricity - mainly because I never understood it. Several months ago, I played with a friend. After my cock and balls were placed within the butterfly board, and eight needles used to spread my bail sac and cock in place, electricity was applied to the needles. I hate to admit it, but I was soooo comfortable that I fell asleep! As I said, never say "never!"

Having attended several Infernos over the past few years, I have met several very proficient people in the S-M scene. One in particular lived in New York. Each year we would travel to meet each other. One year, while in New York, I found myself, somehow, naked and secured spread-eagled to his bed, hooded, sightless, and gagged. He would always be frustrated with me. By the time I got undressed, my cock was rock-hard. I never understood why he was upset. I always thought that a hardon was a sign that the person was "enjoying themselves."

On this one occasion, however, I went soft. Immediately I heard the rustle of activity, and felt a rubber-gloved hand grab my cock. I was given a hit of poppers and as the "high" took over I felt this strange sensation. My cock was being "invaded" by a catheter! Swooning from the poppers, and trusting the expertise of my friend, I relaxed enough to let it happen. I heard water running, and knew that he was "home." The catheter had made the trip up my cock, past the prostate and into the bladder. I had lost, or rather offered, a very private bodily function to the manipulations of my Top.

My mind was racing with knowledge of the fact that I had experienced a new area of S & M. I had overcome the "fear" that was long established, and knew that this was an activity that I just had to experience again. Well, it never happened - at least not within an S-M scene. Not with me as the bottom in any case! I'll explain, but first a few quick words about catheters themselves.

There are two trains of thought on catheters. One is that they should be "sterile"-- and the second is that they only have to be "clean." While medically you may be able to "get away" with only a clean catheter, I personally prefer to use the sterile catheter.

You can purchase catheters without prescription When I asked friends in the medical field about this their comment was, "Just walk into a larger medical supply dealer, sound convincing, and just order one -- like, I would like a Foley Catheter, 16 French, 5cc." Well, that's what I did. About three minutes and $9.95 later I walked out with my catheter!

There are two types of catheters. The "Straight Catheter" is a rubber tube that is inserted, drains the bladder, and slipped out. The "Foley Catheter" is similar, except that at the end there is a balloon which can be inflated to keep it in place. This requires a syringe which may not be as easy to obtain.

From my one experience with being catheterized, and having listened to "lectures" at S-M runs, I knew the theory of how they worked. However, I had never actually done a catheterization. I have only been a Top for less than a year, with most or my activity centered on the bondage scene. I wanted/needed to expand my horizons, so to speak! Before I catheterized anyone else, I wanted to be sure that I knew what I was doing. Theory and practical application can be two entirely different things. As I drove home with the catheter I decided that it would be best if I "practiced" on myself first. If I did the procedure incorrectly l would rather have to explain it myself than have someone else suffer from my mistake. To me that was the responsible approach. Besides, it had been so long since I had been catheterized in New York that I wanted to relive the experience!

When I got home I went into the bathroom and stripped. I placed the sterile packaged catheter on the sink, took three deep breaths, and carefully opened the package so as not to loose the sterile field. I then ran a bead of lubricant along the full length of the catheter. I used a sterile water-soluble lubricant. I washed my hands well, making sure to rinse off all soap that might be present. As I sat on the john, I picked up the catheter, making sure that the lubricant spread out over the whole surface. With my right hand I picked up the catheter, holding it about one inch from the end, and holding it like a pencil, with the remaining length draped over the back of my hand. In my left hand I held my cock, which began to stiffen with the thought of what was about to happen.

I gently inserted the end of the catheter into the urethra. Gently I increased pressure on the catheter. I could feel it sliding along the inside of my cock! The sensation was that I had to piss. The nerve endings were sending messages to my brain that the cock was in use - however, the "flow" was in the wrong direction. Instead of urine coming out, something else was going in! Slowly and gently I continued feeding the catheter into my cock. As it passed the prostate I almost felt like I wanted to come. The catheter was massaging the prostate as it made its way to the bladder. I felt a little resistance. I knew, in theory. that I was "at the door of the bladder." Very gently I held the pressure. As I did I made sure that the other end of the catheter was over the toilet bowel. As the end of the catheter entered the bladder, I felt a little inner shudder. A few seconds later I heard the dripping of urine from the outer end of the catheter. I was home free. I pinched the catheter to stop the flow of urine. I wanted this to last for awhile!

I just happened to have a 10cc syringe available. I filled a shot glass with some contact lens solution (saline - no preservatives) and filled the syringe. The external end of the catheter has two openings. One drains the urine The second connects to a tube running the length of catheter to the balloon which, when inflated. keeps everything in place. I inserted the syringe (without needle) into the second tube and inflated the balloon with 5cc of solution. The catheter was now not going to come out until I deflated the balloon.

The sensations I had experienced were as I recalled from my New York trip. Perhaps even more exciting since I had catheterized myself. I kept the catheter in for about an hour. As I walked around the house I could see the red tube sticking out the end of my cock which was rock-hard. I was pretty proud of myself. For an "amateur" I had done 0K!

There was no pain throughout the procedure. The catheter was in place and stayed in. There was the constant sensation that I had to piss but that, I knew, was the nerve endings sending those crazy messages to the Brain. I couldn't piss because I had blocked the process.

Now for the removal process. I again inserted the syringe into the tube controlling the balloon. Carefully I drew back on the plunger to "drain" the saline solution, watching carefully that I withdrew the same amount as I had inserted. I wanted to be damn sure that the balloon was deflated before I withdrew the catheter! When this was accomplished, I was ready for the fun part. I simply let gravity do the job! Ever so slowly I felt the catheter slide itself along the length of my cock. My mind was reeling. I didn't know if I wanted to piss or cum! Actually, I really wanted to cum, but thought, for the first time, I had better wait until the catheter was out.

When the last centimeter finally cleared the end of my cock I washed the catheter with mild soap and water and rinsed it well. I even let it soak a bit in warm water to be sure all the lubricant and soap was removed.

One thing about the catheter scene: when the catheter has been removed it is best not to piss for as long as you can wait. That first or second urination is going to burn - at least that is the feeling you have. There is going to be some residue lubricant within the urethra. Urinating is going to flush it out The nerve endings are used to the feel of urine - lubricant is a little "heavier" and will cause the nerve endings to send those crazy messages to the brain. Drink plenty of water, and wait several hours, if you can, before you piss. Usually by the second urination the burning sensation is over.

Since I don't have an autoclave at home (not too many have one, I am told) my concern was with sterilizing the catheter. I followed the instructions in DungeonMaster issue Number 26 using the pressure cooker. I knew I had bought that thing for more than pot roasts!

I have repeated this procedure a few times on myself over the past several weeks. My cock is still attached, and is working well in all respects. I feel confident that I have the "procedure" correct, and feel that I can now introduce catheterization into my repertoire of S-M activities.

NOTE: If you don't like the idea of inflating the balloon of the Foley catheter, you can buy a straight catheter. Once inserted, you can hold it in place with tape - don't use black electrical tape! I'd recommend paper "adhesive" tape - simply cross it over the end of the catheter and secure it to the cock. Just be careful that your activities don't loosen the tape, causing the catheter to slip out unexpectedly. Also, be sure to wash the catheter well. You don't need to have any adhesive left on the catheter when you go to use it the next time.

Note: Heat Sterilization of Catheters may damage the Rubber or Latex.
