[ Proctological Examination ] [ The KleenSpec Sigmoidoscope ] [ Enema Tank ] [ Flow Meter ] [ Vaginal Specula in Rectum ] [ A Lab Visit ] The Standard Sized Cylinder is three (3) liters (E13), however, other sizes may be had on special order. The diameter to length relationship is based on the idea that long narrow length is most desirable (not to exceed twenty-four (24) inches, if possible) so as to achieve the visual effect of flow and to more easily gage the amount of liquid dispensed.
The Cylinder is supplied with a Rope Hanger and a Nylon Nipple (Nylon works better than the original Brass Nipple) for connection to your tubing. Other accessories such as Brass Shut-off Valve, Latex Tubing, Hose Clamps, Connectors, Rectal Tubes, our special inflatable nozzle, etc. are available from Chase Union, Ltd. at modest cost either separately or as the Enema Cylinder Accessory Kit. See price list.
The Rope Hanger is sufficiently strong to support the Cylinder with full capacity of water.
Assembly
We are now shipping the new, improved model of the Enema Cylinder. The original had a plastic tip for your tubing which could be easily broken. The new model has a Nylon Nipple. This modification has greatly improved the durability of the Cylinder. It must be carefully screwed in place. Turn it in snugly. If when you fill the Cylinder, there is a slight leak, use a small wrench to tighten it carefully. DO NOT force it to stop a minor leak! Most Cylinders will need a little bit of lubricant to correct the leak. Use something like Crisco or KY Jelly which may be easily removed with soap and water. Do not use oil or Vaseline for this purpose.
If you purchased the Brass Shut-off Valve, it should be screwed directly into the Cylinder and the Nylon Nipple screwed into it.
Calibration
The next thing is to calibrate your Cylinder. You may put a piece of tape down the side or use a felt marker directly on the surface of the Cylinder. Pour measured quantities of water into the cylinder and mark accordingly. If you pour in even quantities of Quarts or Liters you may use a ruler to measure the fractions. We recommend quarter liter or half pint calibrations.
A Note on Felt Markers: Most Felt Markers will make permanent marks on your cylinder (cannot be washed off). However, if you want to make temporary calibrations or mark on the Cylinder after the permanent calibrations have been made, use an EXPO dry erase marker. They are available at any office supply store and may be wiped clean from you Cylinder at any time. This is great for Start and/or Stop marks or Refills.
Connecting to the Nozzle
If you are not using the Brass Shut-off Valve, we recommend that you use a short piece of tubing on the Nylon Nipple with a clamp. Then, using a Quick-disconnect (or other connector) attach a suitable length of Latex Tubing (with another Tubing Clamp), then using another Quick Disconnect attach the Rectal Tube, inflatable nozzle, or other nozzle.
We recommend the use of two Clamps or Valves in the system, one at the cylinder and on the tubing just before the connector to the Rectal Tube or Nozzle. This facilitates easy filling of and transport to the enema station and helps prevent accidental spilling of the contents in transit.
Cleaning
Your Cylinder may be easily cleaned with soap and water and/or chlorinated bleach. It is constructed to sustain normal(?) use. It is breakable, so treat it carefully. We have improved the construction several times and are always open to suggestions. However, heavier construction would substantially increase the price. We have tried to keep it affordable.
